Pomegranate Icecream

Pomegranate

Nice host, beautiful company, and tasty food.

This was how one can plainly describe my last Saturday afternoon spent with the Sacramento Area food bloggers, writers. Once more: it was really nice meeting you all!

And a nice treat came out of these, too: home grown pomegranates. Oh, should I just call them poms? That would make the spelling easy, at least. Right from Elise’s backyard, handpicked by her. Once more: thanks Elise! It was the last ingredient I had to get to finish off my first trial of a pom icecream. The overall result was more than satisfactory for me, but my husband didn’t like the seeds in them. So, if you like, keep your pom arils to put on when serving, to make life easy for the non seedeaters.

The recipe is off the pom website with a bit of adjustment on the dairy side: more cream, and using 2% milk instead of half-half, and got rid of the pistachios totally.

(Will update with the icecream’s pic once I get some decent lighting!)

That sounds so decadent! I wish I had an ice cream maker! It was great to finally meet you and everyone else! Cannot wait till the next one!
BTW: Can you e-mail me the recipe for that pastry you made? Rob was upset that I only grabbed one for him and wants to make more. Ha ha.

I love pomegranate, and Elise’s were just beautiful! I will have to buy an ice cream maker, no doubt, for this pom ice cream really sounds delicious!! :-)

Garret, thanks to you we got together! Will need to do it again. I am planning on posting the recipe for those rolls as soon as I hear back from the blogger that posted it, to see if I can post it here.

Fernanda, aren’t they great? Just ripe from the tree. Once you get the icecream maker, you may not want to go back to the store bought ones; careful!

    Hi Fethiye,

We do have an ice cream maker! I never thought of using the poms for ice cream. Garrett has a nice salad posted using the pom seeds.

    Lovely.

    Best to You,
    Melly
